Tyrannosaurs Massive skulls, powerful jaws, two heavy-duty legs and two teeny-tiny arms. And don’t forget the large, bone-crunching teeth. Most of us picture all tyrannosaurs like the iconic T. rex. But is this true? Tyrannosaurs were, in fact, a very diverse group of meat-eating dinosaurs that thrived in the Northern Hemisphere for over 100 million years during the Jurassic and Cretaceous Periods (from 165 to 66 million years ago).
