Description
Curiously small paintings, in a paint tin that fits in your pocket.
Open the lid and there's a tiny canvas inside, with twelve pigments and a mixing tray below. AltoPaint's paint behaves like paint: colors mix the way real pigments do, the brush runs dry, wet strokes drag into each other, and thick paint catches the light.
THERE'S NO UNDO
Just like real paint. Paint over it, scrape it back with the knife, or let it set and work on top. Nothing is ever ruined; it just becomes part of the painting.
TWELVE REAL PIGMENTS
Titanium white, lemon yellow, cadmium yellow, yellow ochre, cadmium red, quinacridone magenta, ultramarine blue, phthalo blue, viridian, burnt sienna, raw umber and Payne's grey. Colors are mixed from each pigment's real reflectance across the spectrum, not from RGB, so blue and yellow make a true green and tints come out clean.
OIL OR GOUACHE
Start each painting in oil on a warm toned canvas, glossy and slow to dry, or in gouache on white paper, matte and quick to set.
THREE TOOLS
The round brush for everyday marks, the flat for broad strokes with a chisel edge, and the palette knife for flat planes, scraping and smearing. Pinch to zoom in for finer marks.
READY FOR APPLE PENCIL
Pressure, tilt and azimuth all shape the stroke. Lay the Pencil over to scumble with the side of the brush, and double-tap to switch to the knife.
