First Light: Baby Vision

A familiar face. A bright window. The room around you. First Light uses your iPhone camera to explore how visual information changes as babies grow. Move through ages from birth to two years and see an estimate of the detail, contrast and color available during typical infant development. EXPLORE AND COMPARE Choose an age, then press and hold the picture to compare it with the unfiltered camera view. Pinch the picture or drag the scale slider below the framed picture to explore between Full view and Life size at arm’s length. Expand the picture to inspect the selected estimate. START WITH YOUR BABY’S AGE Optionally save a birth date and expected due date. First Light starts at the corresponding age, using the due date when provided. You can also explore freely without a profile. KEEP A MOMENT Save a camera frame, revisit it at different ages, and export a picture or comparison clip to share. The app keeps up to 60 saved moments. Babies vary, and a camera image cannot show their subjective experience. First Light is an educational tool, not a vision test or medical device.
