Description
N2K Simulator turns your iPhone/iPad into a practical NMEA 2000 data lab for development, bench testing, and troubleshooting.
Simulate and stream key marine PGNs over UDP (Actisense ASCII or YDWG RAW), or replay real voyages from .vkx, .vtk, .vcc, and .gpx files.
Visualize movement on a live chart with track history, monitor instrument data in customizable tiles, and control replay with scrub, speed (1x-8x), skip-to-motion, pause, and rewind tools.
You can also record incoming network traffic, save/export sessions (.vkx, .vtk, .gpx), and inspect live logs for deeper diagnostics.
The Devices view helps you understand what is happening on the bus: discover devices via address claims, decode product information, label/mute sources, and detect signal conflicts (duplicate or mismatched data across sources).
Use N2K Simulator to validate integrations faster, reproduce edge cases reliably, and troubleshoot marine networks with confidence, whether you’re a developer, installer, or advanced boater.
The tool has 3 major purposes:
- Simulator for testing NMEA 2000 (N2K) installations especially targeting sailboats.
- Data recorder for N2K networks stores files in Vakaros telemetry format, VKX (GPX and Velocitek VCC coming)
- Visualizing data, when simulating, recording and as replay of recorded data files.
- Trouble shooter - easily detect conflicting data messages on the N2K network.
The simulator needs to be connected to a WiFi network and an NMEA 2000 wireless gateway must be accepting a data stream with Actisense N2K ASCII format.or YD-WG RAW.
The app is currently supporting the following PGNs:
• 59904 ISO Request (used to request other PGNs during device scan)
• 60928 ISO Address Claim (device discovery)
• 126992 System Time
• 126996 Product Information
• 127250 Vessel Heading
• 127257 Attitude
• 128259 Speed, Water Referenced
• 128267 Water Depth
• 129025 Position, Rapid Update
• 129026 COG & SOG, Rapid Update
