Description
The Thessaloniki Wine & Spirits Trophy App is the official digital judging platform of Greece’s leading wine and spirits competition. Designed for Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers, and industry professionals, the app provides a streamlined, accurate, and secure scoring environment for all evaluations conducted during the competition.
Through this application, judges receive their personalized tasting “flights,” record detailed assessments, submit final scores, and participate in the structured evaluation process that defines the integrity of the Thessaloniki Wine & Spirits Trophy.
Login & Access
Judges receive secure login details via email prior to the competition. After installing the app on the device that will be used during the event, users simply enter their email and password to access the judging dashboard. An active internet connection is required for all operations.
Navigation & Flights
Upon login, the main screen titled “Flights” displays the sets of samples assigned to each judge for the specific day. Selecting a flight opens the “Sample Score” page, where all samples and their unique codes are listed.
Sample Evaluation
Each sample includes fields for:
• Color
• Nose
• Palate
• Overall Comments
• Score Entry
For Color, Nose, Palate, and Overall Comments, judges may select multiple attributes from pre-defined lists or add personal observations through the “More Comments” field. All comments can be saved and edited before locking the flight.
Score Entry
Scores may be entered using the keyboard, the rating bar, or the “+ / –” symbols for fine adjustment. If the score corresponds to a medal range, the medal type (Gold, Silver, Bronze) appears automatically above the score. After completing an evaluation, judges save their entry using the floppy-disk icon.
Judges may revise any score or comment until the entire flight is completed. Once satisfied, they must press the “Lock” button. A flight cannot proceed to committee review unless all judges have locked their entries.
Committee Review & Final Scores
After all judges in a committee have completed their evaluations, the panel meets to agree on a final score for each sample. Only the Chair of the committee may enter the final score. On the “Final Score” page, the Chair sees all judges’ scores (green), the associate judge’s score (red), and the calculated average of the five judges (excluding the associate).
If all judges are not listed, one or more may have forgotten to lock their flight. Once consensus is reached, the Chair enters and saves the final score. If no consensus exists, the Chair selects “Can’t decide,” triggering evaluation by another committee.
When all samples are scored, the Chair presses “Save” to lock the final results permanently. The same process applies to each flight.
Best of the Competition
In the final stage, judges select the top wine across all wine categories and by entering the “Best of Competition” series, choosing their preferred sample, and saving their choice. The same process is applied to spirits to determine the final best-awarded entries for the spirits categories.
The Thessaloniki Wine & Spirits Trophy App ensures accuracy, transparency, and professionalism at every stage of the judging process. It supports expert evaluation through a simple, intuitive interface designed specifically for the needs of world-class wine and spirits professionals.
