Description
EXIF.ER is a tool that renames your photos using accurate capture dates from EXIF metadata, keeping files sortable across devices.
It pulls the original creation date and time from each photo’s metadata and applies one of multiple filename formats, from compact ISO standards to region-specific layouts. An optional tag like a trip name can be added to the filename for easier searching later. The app handles images from both the Files app and Photo Library, supporting multiple picture formats, including the format used for Apple ProRAW images.
Processing stays completely on-device with no uploads or servers involved. Files are renamed losslessly—only the filename changes, never the image data itself. In folder mode, photos can be renamed in place or moved into a new subfolder named after the tag. Progress shows exactly how many files were processed or skipped, with clear explanations for any that couldn’t be renamed, like missing EXIF dates.
The workflow is straightforward: select photos or a folder, pick a filename pattern, add a tag if desired, and start renaming. A history view tracks recent sessions with success/failure counts and error details. A running total of renamed photos appears in settings, with an option to reset it.
Making EXIF.ER has been a joy, and it's a tool I use personally - I hope you'll find it as useful as I do.
