This innovative digital project transforms Thessaloniki into a living musical map, connecting the city’s sounds with its historic landmarks. 1. Musical Routes Walk through Thessaloniki’s most emblematic monuments and discover the city’s multicultural soul.
Through the power of Augmented Reality (AR), musical ensembles appear around you, performing works that represent the city’s diverse traditions:
– Byzantine, Ottoman, and Armenian music
– Sephardic songs
– Western European choral and classical works Every landmark becomes a musical stop. Watch the ensembles “come to life” at the monuments through your mobile camera and enjoy a captivating experience of sound and image. 2. Audio Guide Learn about the musical history and cultural context of each site through an interactive Digital Guide.
Discover monuments, communities, composers, and works that reflect the city’s polyphonic heritage.
Browse historical details, 3D instrument representations, and media content that bring the past to life. The Digital Guide works on-site, when you visit the actual location, or remotely, allowing you to explore Thessaloniki’s musical world from anywhere. 3. Become a Musician Experiment, play, and create your own music!
With the “Become a Musician” feature, you can interact with the musical instruments from the State Conservatory’s collections, select sounds, and compose your own melodies.
