What you can sing yourself, you understand much better than if you count notes. The app supports you doing so. Additionally, you can play along with all exercises on your instrument, and the app recognizes different octaves.
To learn the language of music, you ideally don't start with musical notation and theory, but with practice: listening, singing, making music.
