Description
Railroader Timebook is a modern, reliable way for railroad crews to track duty hours, layoff time, mileage, pay, and FRA compliance. Built by a railroader for railroaders, it replaces spreadsheets, guesswork, and paper logs with a clear, accurate, and easy-to-use system.
Railroader Timebook records every detail of your workday, including On Duty and Off Duty times, deadhead segments, crew information, mileage, delays, notes, and pay. The app automatically calculates duty hours, limbo time, continuous duty, short-rest rules, and effective release times. All data is saved privately and securely with real-time cloud sync across devices.
The app includes comprehensive FRA compliance tracking. It displays monthly Hours Worked against the 276-hour limit and Limbo Time against the 30-hour limit, along with remaining hours. Consecutive Starts are tracked automatically with correct 24-hour window logic, including mandatory 48- and 72-hour rest periods when required. The Rested Time Indicator shows the exact time you are rested according to FRA rules, including adjustments for deadhead, limbo, and duty periods exceeding 12 hours.
Railroader Timebook provides a complete timeline of your work history with trips, layoffs, and standalone pay entries displayed together in chronological order. The monthly calendar view shows each day’s activity at a glance, including trips, layoffs, events, and payments. Tapping a day opens an hourly grid view with precise start and end times for each entry.
Layoffs and non-HOS activities can be logged with type, dates, notes, and optional pay. When a layoff spans multiple months, the app automatically prorates pay by calendar day so monthly totals remain accurate. Standalone payments such as bonuses or guarantee pay can also be logged and included in monthly summaries without affecting duty totals or miles.
Trip entry is designed for speed and accuracy, using right-aligned numeric fields, auto-filled station numbers, remembered route mileage, and crew name autocomplete. Deadhead segments support outbound and return legs with station numbers, miles, start times, end times, and automatic duration calculations. Taxi and Train-to-Train continuous duty runs are grouped with combined duty calculations and a clear breakdown of each segment.
Railroader Timebook includes clean PDF export and print options. You can export a single trip, an entire month, or a summary that includes miles, number of trips, pay totals, FRA hours used and remaining, limbo used and remaining, and any continuous-duty or layoff details.
The app supports 24-hour or 12-hour time formats, dark and light mode, dynamic text sizing, accessibility features, and offline-first operation. All data stays private to your account and is never sold or shared.
Railroader Timebook is built for engineers, conductors, brakemen, switchmen, utility employees, and anyone who needs a precise and dependable railroad timebook. It is designed to work for yard jobs, locals, road trains, extra board assignments, and any schedule or terminal pattern.
Whether you need accurate duty tracking, reliable FRA compliance tools, or a complete historical record of your railroad work, Railroader Timebook provides a clear, organized, and professional solution.
