Description

Researching Safety We are working toward zero workplace accidents. Current State of Workplace Accidents (Japan) According to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), the annual number of casualties (injuries and deaths) requiring four or more days off work remains around 130,000. In recent years, the decline has slowed, and the figure has increased for three consecutive years. ※1 Many accidents are influenced not only by facilities and environment, but also by on-site actions and decisions. That’s why we need to— share those “near-miss moments” and deepen awareness together. Start by Sharing Information with Your Team Before a serious accident happens, there are always small warning signs—moments that make you go “that was close.” These are called near-miss incidents. However, in many workplaces they are overlooked as “not an accident,” go unreported, and get buried. When near-misses are shared, risk awareness increases, behavior changes, and accidents can be prevented. Heinrich’s theory also explains that behind a major accident lie many minor incidents and near-misses. ※2 PhotoIt: A Safety-Sharing App Use sticky notes (arrows) on a photo to show where the danger is, and add text to capture why it felt risky Share what you created to Hiyat (a near-miss sharing platform) By organizing a near-miss into a single image, you can strengthen your awareness of hazards Hiyat: A Near-Miss Sharing Platform Share near-misses with Before / After using photos and text Learn about unsafe actions and conditions from real-world sites around the globe Turn individual awareness into shared learning and connect it to prevention Turn Near-Miss Information into Learning With PhotoIt, organize and post: where the danger was and why it felt risky With Hiyat, learn by viewing many sites’ Before / After cases By sharing the knowledge that used to remain hidden—across companies and countries—we aim for zero workplace accidents.
