The first step is to enter the possible alternatives or options. The criteria for the decision are then entered. These criteria can have various characteristics. For example, this characteristic can be a number that is rated better if it is larger. A Likert scale, which asks whether a criterion scores good, medium or poor, is also possible, along with many other features. If all options and criteria have been specified, the ratings for each option and each criterion can be specified. Example car: Model A has a fuel consumption of 12.5 liters per 100 km. After the input, the criteria can be additionally weighted, i.e. included in the calculation with percentage points from 1 to 100. All entries are then mathematically “normalized”, i.e. brought to a uniform scale. This makes it possible to compare apples with pears. A decision can then be calculated. The result is output as a bar chart. A PDF output is also available, which documents the decision with all options, criteria, evaluations and weightings. And what about the famous “gut feeling”?
