FenScan is a simple scanner app built to help Muslim travelers in Taiwan detect haram ingredients in food packaging quickly and accurately. In Indonesia, where the majority of the population is Muslim, identifying food that aligns with religious dietary restrictions is relatively easy. However, in Taiwan, Muslims make up less than 0.3% of the population (Taipei Times, 2024), making it much harder to access clear information about food content. Interestingly, Taiwan is one of the top destinations for Muslim travelers, showing a strong demand for better support tools. FenScan addresses this by offering a fast, offline ingredient scanner that highlights potentially haram content, empowering users to make informed decisions while exploring Taiwan.
