Description
This app is designed to let you enjoy the music of Bach without an internet connection.
The included works are played using MIDI data precisely captured from live performances by harpsichordist Jone Sankey,
and you can choose between two meticulously crafted instrument soundfonts.
Through detailed and distinctive interpretation, these performances offer a depth of expression rarely encountered elsewhere. (BWV 855, 979, 813, 826, 974)
The first instrument is a soundfont modeled after an 18th-century French Blanchet harpsichord.
It was created by Eric Bricet and Jean Yves Garet in August 2005 by carefully sampling every note of the restored Blanchet 1720 instrument.
By capturing the individual tonal qualities of two 8’ stops and a lute stop,
the soundfont faithfully reproduces the clear and resonant character of the original instrument.
The second instrument is based on the sound of a Steinway Model-C grand piano (7’5”) built in 1897.
This soundfont was created by Warren S. Trachtman with the cooperation of the owner, Anthony Ponaras,
by recording all 88 keys over several days at various playing intensities.
The resulting multi-gigabyte set of samples was meticulously edited and refined
to recreate the rich and historic resonance of the original piano.
With these carefully crafted soundfonts,
the app provides a vivid and expressive environment for enjoying Bach’s music.
