This is U20's senior project for the San Jose State University's Spring 2025 CMPE Expo: Strawberry Ripeness Scanner.
Finding a strawberry’s ripeness by looking at it may not yield accurate results. A strawberry may look like it is not ripe, but it may be so close to being ripe that it may ripen up during shipment. If it ripens up during shipment, there is a greater chance of the fruit going bad when it reaches the market’s shelf. Moreover, farmers may lose income due to rejections from vendors and may create more waste instead of products getting into consumer’s hands. Therefore, there is a need for a way to accurately assess the ripeness of a strawberry to decide whether it should be shipped or eaten as soon as possible. Therefore, we created this app to help users easily determine a strawberry's ripeness using a picture.
