ViewSkater

ViewSkater is a fast, native macOS image viewer designed for effortlessly browsing large directories of images. With near-instant navigation and slider UI, ViewSkater is perfect for anyone who needs to explore numerous high-resolution images. ## Requirements - Apple Silicon Mac (M1, M2, M3 series and later) - macOS 12 or later ViewSkater relies on GPU acceleration for rendering images (powered by wgpu) and is optimized for Apple Silicon devices. Intel-based Macs are not supported. ## Features - Native macOS app built in Rust - GPU-based image rendering powered by wgpu - Dynamic image caching on CPU or GPU memory - Continuous image rendering via key presses and the slider UI - Dual-pane view for side-by-side image comparison - Synced zooming, panning, and navigation in dual-pane mode with shared slider - Supports common formats (JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF, WebP, GIF, QOI, TGA, etc.) up to 8192×8192 px ## Usage Drag and drop an image or a directory of images onto a pane, and navigate through the images using the A / D keys or the slider UI. Use the mouse wheel to zoom in/out of an image. In dual-pane mode (Cmd + 2), the slider syncs images in both panes by default. You can switch to per-pane sliders by selecting the "Controls -> Controls -> Toggle Slider" menu item or pressing the Space bar. ## Shortcuts - A / D or ← / →: Previous / next image - Shift + A / D: Skate mode (continuous scroll) - Tab: Toggle UI elements - Space: Toggle between single and dual slider mode - Cmd + 1 / 2: Switch between single and dual pane mode - Cmd + O: Open file (single pane) - Cmd + Shift + O: Open folder (single pane) - Alt + 1 / 2: Open folder in Pane 1 or 2 - Shift + Alt + 1 / 2: Open file in Pane 1 or 2 - Cmd + W: Close all panes - Cmd + Q: Quit ## About ViewSkater is experimental open-source software and is under active development.
