Hydra Score is a geographic information system (GIS) platform designed by California farmers and bankers to easily research ground and surface water availability and soil risk for agriculture in the wake of the landmark passage of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). ▶ USE CASES: Bankers: Use Hydra Score to quickly analyze risk and make a go/no-go decision as to whether additional diligence is needed. GSA Factors: The amount of overdraft per irrigated acre (for overdrafted sub basins only). The sustainable yield of the underlying aquifer(s). The water demand of the most productive crops in the region. The components of the groundwater allocation program. The amount of surface water available within the GSA. Water District Factors: Historical water rights. Historic deliveries to the water agency (AF/AC and Total). Whether the water agency moves water through, or takes water from, the Sacramento River Delta. State Water Project (SWP) access. Central Valley Water Project (CVP) access. Natural surface water availability (Lakes, Rivers, Streams, etc.).
