Description
The Humie app helps kids aged 3-7 and their parents build emotional literacy (EQ) by integrating reflective practice with popular TV.
Featuring a curated library of kids' favorite titles like Bluey, Octonauts, The Magic School Bus, Gabby's Dollhouse, and many more.
Watching becomes an interactive experience that builds empathy and resilience as viewers practice skills like perspective-taking and emotion labeling through playful activities with some of their favorite characters.
Research has shown that just 30 minutes a week watching with Humie:
- improves kids' emotional vocabulary
- increases discussions of emotions between parents and kids
- improves kids' emotion management
Humie meets families where they are, providing reassurance to parents about their kids' screen time as well as co-watching support.
Developed by Columbia cognitive scientists with funding from the National Science Foundation, the app has been designed and tested in collaboration with leading kids' media experts.
We intend for Humie to always be accessible for free to those unable to afford a paid subscription. To enable this, we ask those who can afford it to support Humie by subscribing.
