WhereCamera

WhereCamera is an augmented reality app that shows you where you are and what's around you. Furthermore, it let's you take photos that helps you remember where you were. WhereCamera shows you a compass or a camera, depending on how you hold your iPhone. Hold your iPhone like a camera and you get a camera. Hold your iPhone like a compass, and you get a compass. The points of interest around you are shown on top of the compass, or on top of the camera view finder. The app also shows you the distance to those places around you. WhereCamera uses you current position and it needs a live internet connection to funtion properly. WhereCamera is a great alternative to loading online maps, because it loads tiny amounts of data over the internet, and it helps you to quickly get your bearings right. When you are abroad you might be worried about the phone bill. WhereCamera loads about 500 bytes of compressed data per request, which is about 1 percent of what it would take to load an online map at one zoom level. WhereCamera gives access to more than 8 million named places globally obtained through geonames.org, openstreetmap.org and the Norwegian Mapping Authority. More points of interest are being added continously.
