AMERICAN BEATBOX™ is a hub for beatboxers to connect with, learn from, and support one another. Beatboxing is an original American art form and music genre. It uses the mouth, lips, tongue and voice to create vocal percussion and mimic drum machines, turntables, and other music instruments. Birthed in 1980s New York as the “fifth element” of hip hop, legends like Doug E Fresh, Biz Markie, Rahzel and others paved the way for their art form to become known and respected. Today there are millions of beatboxers scattered across every continent, and there are even more fans. As modern music has evolved, so have the sounds and rhythms in the beatbox community. With new recording equipment, vocal effects, and loop technologies emerging, the possibilities for beatboxers are being redefined in terms of creating music. At AB we create and host high-quality content, sell original and collaborative merchandise, curate battles and community events, and engage through social media channels like YouTube and Instagram.
