While nearly 1 million New Jersey residents struggle with food insecurity, 3 billion pounds of food go to waste each year in our state. With Table to Table I-Rescue, volunteers can rescue fresh, healthy food and deliver it to those in need in Northern NJ, including Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, and Passaic counties. In less than an hour, you can pick up donated food from local grocery stores, restaurants, and cafeterias and drop it off to community partners serving people facing food insecurity. You can volunteer as often as you like—whether it’s daily, weekly, or even just once. How Table to Table I-Rescue Works Step 1: Download Table to Table I-Rescue and Register We guide you every step of the way. Step 2: Claim a Rescue Near You Make sure notifications are on and check the app daily for available rescues. Step 3: Pick Up Food within the Designated Time Window Address, contact person, and instructions are provided. Step 4: Travel to Receiving Organization Immediately deliver to an assigned nearby shelter, group home or food pantry. Because you drop off directly at the organization distributing the food, you see firsthand the impact you are making on ending hunger and fighting food insecurity. Step 5: Deliver Donation Snap a selfie with your rescue and share on social media to inspire your friends to be food rescue heroes too. Thank you for delivering to end food waste and hunger!
