Description
The Jackson Heart Study (JHS) is the largest single-site community study of heart disease and its risk factors. While we focus on heart health, we also examine kidney disease, sleep, and social determinates of health among African Americans. JHS started with 5,306 African American men and women in the surrounding Jackson areas including Hinds, Madison, and Rankin Counties.
JHS promotes heart health by engaging the community, training minority health professionals, educating the public and conducting research and sharing findings. The JHS will transform a history of African Americans’ heart disease into a legacy of heart health.
