lookAbout - See the World

lookAbout’s niche is as a crowd-sourced unofficial event finder with a rating system. Users can post events from one of four categories (grub, deals, good times, or miscellaneous) about anything going on around them. The user will see a map of the Earth and can view posts from anyone, anywhere in the world, at any time. When one wishes to find things to do in their area, they are most commonly informed through a Google search of something like “events near me.” While this will display some great options in the area, there are thousands of unofficial exciting activities that one would never find through a Google search. That is where lookAbout comes in. We allow users to post their own events and find events posted by others. This data is all organized to provide a nice user interface where one can sort posts by top-rated and most recent. From finding the hottest bar to which restaurant has a great happy hour deal to finding the best live music and more, this app puts the social scene into the hands of the user.
