If you want to connect your instrument or external mic to iPhone, you need to get one of those connection adapters which are available in market. Sound quality may differ with the iPhone model, microphone, and headphone you use. For the maximum performance we advice wired headphone/headset. Airpods and other bluetooth devices may cause latency. In free version you can use the PhoneAmp for 10 minutes/hour and 40 secs recording time. You can remove these limits lifetime with just one purchase. It is not a subscription which will renew periodically.
