Save meaningful places, attach photos and notes, revisit past journeys, and plan what comes next—all in one private-by-default journal. YOUR LIFE ON THE MAP Explore your memories through an interactive photo map. Smart zoom highlights the places most relevant to you, while optional clustering keeps even a large collection easy to navigate. Filter by date, category, country, or places with photos. A VISUAL PLACE LIBRARY Browse your collection in a photo-first grid organized around the places you have visited. Sort and filter your library, explore collections, and rediscover memories through rotating photo covers. TURN PHOTOS INTO PLACES Select photos to create individual places or build an entire trip. Places can also scan the location and date information in your photo history to suggest places automatically. Photo analysis happens on your device. Review every suggestion, adjust how locations are grouped, exclude unwanted media types, and choose exactly what gets imported. Existing places are considered to help prevent duplicates. PLAN AND REMEMBER TRIPS Create trips for future plans or past adventures. Add dates, notes, stops, saved places, and photos. Import places you already have or begin with a selection from your photo library. Invite friends to a trip or share it using a link. Participants can view the itinerary and collaborate when you grant editing access. OPTIONAL SOCIAL DISCOVERY Follow people you know, become friends when you follow each other, and discover the places they choose to share. Browse personal timelines, trips, and read-only maps from other profiles. Complete place records remain private. Social features use reduced previews that exclude precise coordinates, private notes, full visit dates, addresses, and original photos. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT Your complete places, original photos, notes, and precise locations are stored on your device and, when using iCloud, in your private CloudKit database. Places includes controls to: • Hide your profile from discovery • Block and report users or content • Manage trip participants and permissions • Export a copy of your data • Delete individual content or all user data Places contains no advertising SDKs, does not sell your personal information, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
