Ireland. Cuespeak is a professional rehabilitation tool for people with speech, language and cognitive difficulties after stroke or brain injury. Produced in the UK and now used in many NHS hospitals, Cuespeak contains over 9000 images, 2500 videos showing target words being spoken and broken down into syllables and sounds, and more than 20,000 spoken prompts. Cuespeak is optimised for use with a Speech & Language Therapist, but can also be used independently. The app can be managed remotely from another location, with the clinician or other helper sending session updates via the internet, and the user sending back results. Cuespeak moves beyond traditional 'picture naming' approaches towards a more dynamic 'question and facilitated answer' format which seeks better to emulate the processing demands of conversation. The 20,000+ spoken prompts include questions, spoken feedback on errors and 'closure cues' designed to elicit spoken production of target words and phrases. Exercises from any of the eleven therapy modules can be highly customised to individual needs and combined into a complete bespoke therapy programme which will run automatically at the single press of a button. This enables people even with significant cognitive problems to carry out prolonged, intensive, independent practice to supplement their face-to-face therapy programme. Results capture both accuracy and speed of responses and are displayed over time in graph form. With the exception of the videos, Cuespeak can run fully without internet connection, making it easy to use on the move. This version of Cuespeak is aimed at UK users, using British English throughout and with cultural references geared towards the UK.
