NepTunes: Widget & Last.fm

NepTunes is a native menu bar companion for Apple Music and Spotify, with a Last.fm scrobbler that has been looked after for over ten years. SCROBBLING THAT HOLDS UP NepTunes follows whatever is playing in Apple Music or Spotify and scrobbles it to Last.fm — with a threshold you set, and an offline queue that holds your listens until the connection comes back. See your scrobble, loved-track and artist counts without opening a browser. Apple Music has no Last.fm support of its own. Spotify's is arranged on Last.fm's side and quietly drops things — local files, offline listening past the last 50 tracks, anything playing while an ad finishes. NepTunes watches the player directly instead. YOUR PLAYER, IN THE MENU BAR Click the menu bar icon for full album artwork, a scrollable history of what you have been playing, and play, pause and skip inline. ONE LINK, WHATEVER THEY LISTEN ON Copy a link to a track or an album and send it to anyone. It opens in Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer or Amazon Music — matched on the recording wherever possible, so it is the version you heard — and it shows the artwork when you paste it into Messages. A WIDGET ON YOUR DESKTOP The standard kind of macOS widget: add it from Notification Center and it sits on your desktop with the current track and its artwork, in small, medium or large. It works whether you listen in Apple Music or Spotify. HOTKEYS FROM ANY APP Play and pause, skip, change the volume, or bring your player to the front — from any app, without switching windows. Most changes get a quick on-screen confirmation that fades away. NEPTUNES PRO A subscription adds, right inside the app: • Live widgets on your wallpaper — animated, interactive covers and visualizers, built on an open JavaScript API, so you can write your own • Animated album covers — Apple Music motion artwork in the player • Top albums grid — your Last.fm favorites, ranked • Similar tracks — Last.fm's recommendations for whatever is playing • Album art in the Dock • "Now Playing" in the menu bar — your track, your format, with inline controls • Pro hotkeys — switch player, add to library PRIVACY No analytics and no tracking. The only account involved is the Last.fm one you choose to connect. Artwork and share links are matched against public music catalogs, and nothing about your listening is sent to us or stored.
