Book성경. 구약 성서와 신약 성서 성경(聖經)은 통상 기독교 또는 유대교 신앙의 최고 경전을 일컫는 말이다. 그 구성은 기독교와 유대교 간에 차이가 있다. 영어로 통상 불리는 바이블(bible)이라는 말은 고대 서양에서 책을 만들던 파피루스의 무역 집산지였던 비블로스 지역에서 비롯된 고대 그리스어 토 비블리온(τό βιβλίον그 책)이라는 말에서 왔다. 동양에서는 역사적으로 그 진리됨이 검증된 책에 경(經)이라는 칭호를 붙인 까닭에 성경이라는 말이 연유한 것으로 보인다. 성서(聖書)라는 말도 많이 사용된다.
